EFFORTLESSNESS: nidra

Yoga Nidra is a powerful deep rest practice. It soothes the nervous system, eases anxiety, induces sleep, eases muscular tension, and resets and rejuvenates the mind and body. It has been shown to have similar benefits to deep, restful sleep; consider it a yoga nap!

This 50 minute class starts with a grounding meditation and 10 minutes of gentle stretches, followed by a 30 minute guided full body relaxation. Unroll your mat, gather blankets, blocks, pillows, a chair, or anything you prefer to support your body. I recommend supporting the lower legs/calves, as high as needed to keep the low back grounded on the floor. This may mean resting your entire lower legs on the seat of a chair. Support the back of your head to prevent the chin from jutting out, and possibly lay on a blanket for added softness. You’re also welcome to find a comfortable seat, elevating your hips to keep them higher than your knees. Or, if you like, lay in bed!

If you have Spotify, this playlist is super soothing and meditative. If you don’t, you’re welcome to play anything you like. I recommend sticking to quiet, ambient music.

As always, yoga is an energy exchange. Pay in love, do something to make the world more beautiful, or donate monetarily here

Happy napping!
