Session 1, Monday March 19, 7 – 8:15 pm.
The Body’s Natural Detox Functions
In this first session, we focus on understanding the body’s natural eliminative functions, how these are weakened
by lifestyle factors and aging. We will explore the different ways in which yoga postures and techniques can help
strengthen the body’s detox processes to slow or reverse this process.
Session 2. Saturday, March 24, 3 – 4:30 pm.
Deepening Your Practice I: Working with Prana
This is the first of two Saturday sessions with a more introspective focus. The emphasis is on experiencing and
learning how to work with the more subtle aspects of the body to lay the foundation for a deeper experience of the
postures in subsequent sessions.
Session 3, Monday March 26, 7 – 8:15 pm.
Opening the Breath
The breath is important not only for bringing life-giving oxygen to the cells, but also for removing carbon dioxide.
As we get older, our breath capacity decreases, making this process less efficient, gradually undermining our
vitality. This lesson focuses on simple yoga postures and techniques that can help you develop more awareness of
your breath, release habitual patterns of restriction, and strengthen your vital capacity.
Session 4. Monday, April 2, 7 – 8:15 pm.
Clearing the Energy Body
An important, but not always recognized, source of ama, or metabolic waste, in the body is energetic blockages in
the form of stagnant energy or emotional and mental patterns that no longer serve us. In this session, we begin
exploring ways to increase our sensitivity to energy blockages and promote the clearing of blocked energy.
Session 5. Monday, April 9, 7 – 8:15 pm.
Optimizing Digestive Function
Inefficient digestion is one of the main sources of ama, or toxic waste in the system. This session focuses on yoga
postures and techniques that can help ease indigestion and constipation, and strengthen overall digestive function.
Session 6. Saturday, April 14, 3 – 4:30 pm.
Deepening Your Practice II: Yin Yoga
This restorative session shows how holding the poses longer allows us to release tension in less malleable tissues,
such as ligaments and connective tissue, which will have a deeply transforming effect on body and mind.
Session 7. Monday, April 16, 7 – 8:15 pm.
Understanding Lymphatic Function
In this session, we explore the lymph system, the health of which is often undermined by our sedentary lifestyle.
We’ll look at common symptoms associated with sluggish lymph flow, and do a posture sequence specifically
designed to increase lymph circulation.
Session 8. Monday, April 23, 7 – 8:15 pm.
Enhancing Organ Health
This restorative session shows how specific groups of postures can be used to increase blood circulation to organs,
particularly the liver and kidneys, to strengthen organ efficiency and function.
