This session introduces yoga poses that can help you understand how to build core strength to help attain and
maintain spinal alignment.

Session 2. Forward Head Posture. Monday, May 7, 7:15 – 8:30 pm.
In this session you will learn to assess whether you are at risk for one of the most common postural problems,
forward head posture. We will do a yoga routine with postures that can both help prevent and correct this problem.

Session 3. Deepening Your Practice I: Following Prana. Saturday, May 12, 3–4:30 pm.
This is the first of two Saturday sessions with a more introspective focus. The emphasis is on experiencing and
learning how to work with the more subtle aspects of the body to lay the foundation for a deeper experience of the
postures in subsequent sessions.
Session 4. Keeping the Lower Back Healthy I: The Lumbar Spine. Monday, May 14, 7:15 – 8:30.
Are you at risk for low back pain? In this session we examine some of the most common causes of low back pain
and do a series of exercises to prevent it. The first of two sessions focusing on common lower back problems, this
class focuses on the lumbar spine and yoga postures that help prevent or counteract lower back pain.
Session 4 Home Routine
Session 5. Keeping the Lower Back Healthy II: The SI Joint. Monday, May 21, 7:15– 8:30 pm.
This session helps you understand the forces that affect the health and balance of the sacroiliac joint, which is
another source of back pain when not in balance.
Session 6. Office Yoga. Monday, May 28, 7:15 – 8:30 pm.
In this final class, we review the key points of the course and also introduce your to some simple office yoga
practices you can do at any time, which will greatly strengthen and maintain the health of your back.

Lesson 7. Deepening Your Practice II: Yin Yoga. Saturday, June 2, 3 – 4:30 pm.
This restorative practice shows how holding the poses longer allow us to release tension in less malleable tissues,
such as ligaments and connective tissue, and how that can have a deeply transforming effect on all aspects of life.
Lesson 8. Simple Daily Practices to Keep the Spine Healthy. Monday, June 4, 7:15 – 8:30 pm.
This session focuses on the six simple, yet vital movements we need to do daily to keep the spine healthy throughout
life
